National Honor Society

  •
The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921. The Sherrard High School Chapter, established in 1961, currently support the academic achievement of our students by participating in the MTSS program through peer tutoring programs at the junior and senior high schools. Students also participate as reading aides in Matherville and special education aides at the junior and senior high schools. SHS chapter members participate in community activities such as volunteering to work Wonderful Wednesday Community Dinners at the United Methodist Church in Preemption, producing a Veteran's Day program at the high school, and serve on problem-solving teams with our school board.
