Sherrard High School senior Karter Amos was recently surprised with a $2,000 scholarship to Midwest Technical Institute (MTI), where he plans to enroll in the HVAC/R program.
To be considered, Amos had to submit a video explaining why he wants to pursue a career in HVAC and take part in a short interview with MTI’s campus president. A panel of judges reviewed all submissions, scoring both the video and interview. Based on those results, Karter earned one of the top spots—and the scholarship that came with it.
The HVAC/R program at MTI prepares students for hands-on careers in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration.
