Four Sherrard staff members were honored as April Employees of the Month by the Rock Island County Regional Office of Education, ROE—and we couldn’t be prouder!
Ian DeVolder, math teacher at the Junior/Senior High, is teaching five new high-level math courses this year—and he’s thriving. His students are mastering tough concepts, applying them to real-world situations, and actually having fun in math. His calm, capable presence is making a big impact in and out of the classroom.
Chris Kwiatkowski, 5th grade teacher at Matherville Intermediate, brings heart, humor, and hustle to everything he does. He’s the kind of teacher students seek out in the hallway, and the kind of teammate who shows up early, pitches in often, and brightens tough days with coffee or breakfast. His love for teaching and community shines every day.
Connie Brown, second grade teacher at Sherrard Elementary, is retiring after 34+ years of lighting a spark in her students and colleagues alike. She’s known for encouraging curiosity, sharing her love of nature, and inspiring lifelong learning. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she’s shaped along the way.
Megan Fisher, administrative assistant at Winola Elementary, stepped into the front office this year and immediately made it feel like home. Her warm welcome, problem-solving skills, and willingness to jump in wherever needed have made her an essential part of the school. Her positive energy makes every day better.
