Wednesday, May 24, Sherrard students were honored to receive scholarships from the Sherrard Academic Foundation, through the Moline Foundation.

Kongkousonh Reaches for the STARS - Chosen for Prestigious College Program
Sherrard junior, Autumn Kongkousonh, was recently chosen out of 300 applicants for a rare opportunity to travel to Chicago to learn the intricacies of how to get into a prestigious university under a program titled, The Small Town and Rural Students (STARS) College Network Fly-in at UChicago.

Sherrard Alumni; Illinois Farm Families to be Featured in Super Bowl LVII Commercial
VIOLA, Ill. — A Mercer County farm family will be featured in a commercial airing on Feb. 12, during the first half of this weekend’s big game. 2004 Sherrard graduate Chad Bell, his wife Brittany, and children Amelia and Charlie, who both attend Winola Elementary, will appear in the commercial, titled “The Corporation,” to bring awareness of Illinois’ family-owned farms.

Out of tragedy comes blessing for Sherrard teacher

Scholastic Bowl Meet
Monday, Jan. 30 seven schools traveled to Sherrard for a Scholastic Bowl Meet. Sherrard won their first match of the evening against Rockridge and had two well fought matches against Morrison and Monmouth-Roseville.

16 Matherville Intermediate students earn spot in the Elementary All-State Choir
“More kids made All-State Choir than we’ve ever had,” said Music teacher, Christina Pagett. She said there are typically 7-8 kids who earn a spot.

Carly Minch, 4th grade teacher at Winola Elementary, received the “Tiger Talent Dedication” award during the school board meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
Superintendent Dr. Carl Johnson implemented the award for “...those who model, build and encourage positive character qualities - speaking into students’ lives by word and deed that will resonate for years to come and help guide them to become the leaders and contributing community members of tomorrow.” -
'Cops and Kids at Christmas' - Resource Officer Mendoza new organizer
“The more comfortable and positive interactions kids have around law enforcement the more comfortable they are communicating with us. We are just trying to create a bond,” said Rock Island Deputy and Sherrard Resource Officer Mike Mendoza.
