Unveiling the New Sherrard Tiger Mascot Logo: A Symbol of Strength, Unity, and Excellence

Sherrard, IL—The Sherrard School District has officially unveiled its new tiger mascot logo, a symbol designed to represent the district's strength, unity, and commitment to excellence. The reveal comes after a comprehensive process that included input from students, staff, and the broader community.

“This is a new version of a classic mascot that will help unify the district's use of the Tiger in all forms and methods of apparel and design. We were incredibly grateful for the public input and commentary in this endeavor,” said Superintendent Dr. Carl Johnson.

The new logo features a forward-facing tiger with a determined gaze, poised in a stance that reflects both readiness and resilience. The side-facing view has a fierce look baring its fangs at the ready.  Both designs incorporate the district's signature colors—regal purple and vibrant gold—emphasizing the pride and passion that are hallmarks of the Sherrard community.

"We wanted a logo that everyone in the district could connect with, something that embodies the spirit of Sherrard while also standing the test of time," said Cala Elliott, Public Relations Director for Sherrard School District.

The process of selecting and refining the new logo was a community effort, with feedback and votes between two options from students, staff and the Sherrard community, playing a crucial role in its development.

Following the vote, the design was polished and finalized for use across all district platforms, including signage, apparel, and digital media.

The new logo will soon be visible across the district, marking its presence on everything from school gear to official communications.

"I'm excited to introduce our new tiger logo on athletic gear and spirit wear," said Lisa Emendorfer, Assistant Principal for Activities & Athletics. "This design captures the intensity, passion, and grit that our students and student-athletes bring to their extra and co-curricular pursuits."

The district encourages everyone to keep an eye out for the new logo as it begins to roll out, symbolizing a new chapter for Sherrard School District—one that honors its rich history while looking forward to a bright future.

"We're proud of the outcome and grateful to everyone who contributed to making it a reality,” said Elliott.
