New Resource Directory Expands Support for Families in Need
“Thanks to a partnership with the Mercer County Mental Health Action Program, we’ve expanded and refreshed our resource directory to include more agencies from Rock Island and surrounding counties.
This updated directory is now available to our community as a vital tool for those seeking outside resources and support,” said Alexa Weihler, Sherrard District Social Worker.
She said the counselor’s office often receives questions like, ‘Who are some therapists that may help my child struggling with ADHD?’ or ‘Where can I get my child evaluated for further social, emotional, or behavioral support?’ and ‘Where can I get assistance with food?’
“These are common concerns, and we hope this directory can offer answers to families who need guidance but may not know where to turn.
For some families, pride can be a barrier, preventing them from reaching out for help. Our goal is to break down that barrier by making these resources easily accessible—right at their fingertips,” said Weihler.
For simplicity, a new item, 'Family Resources' has been added to the 'Community' menu on the district website. This section includes critical links such as McKinney-Vento resources, a list of food pantries within our school district, Tiger Closet information, and the comprehensive resource directory. You can explore the directory at the link below - https://docs.google.com/.../1blOvuI44iUEGRNN1pgXt.../edit...
Find it on our website by visiting the 'Community' menu, selecting 'Family Resources', and choosing 'Community Resource Directory'.
'Family Resources' can also be found in the gold icon bar.
“We hope this tool will provide essential support to those in need, making it easier for families to find the help they deserve,” said Weihler.
