November Tiger Talent Recipient: Sherrard Elementary Nurse Kelly Fratzke

“She’s one of the reasons why I love coming to work every single day,” said Amy Hammond, Administrative Assistant.

This month’s Tiger Talent spotlight shines on Mrs. Kelly Fratzke, Sherrard Elementary Nurse, whose presence is felt in nearly every corner of our school community. Known for her calm approach, steady professionalism, and above all, her deep care for each student, Mrs. Fratzke embodies what it means to be a true advocate for student well-being.

Whether she’s offering comfort with a band-aid, a listening ear, or educating students on nutrition and healthy habits, she’s committed to equipping our kids with life skills that last beyond the classroom. Her health education efforts empower students with knowledge on nutrition, wellness, and self-care. From ensuring staff CPR certifications are up-to-date to stepping in for field trips, events, and everyday mishaps, she’s a constant source of support.

During challenging times, like the pandemic, she was instrumental in upholding safety protocols, making sure everyone stayed informed and cared for. Beyond her role as a nurse, she’s a friend, mentor, and one of those rare individuals who brings out the best in everyone around her. This recognition celebrates Mrs. Fratzke’s impact—not only on the care she provides but on the kindness she brings to our school each and every day.

Principal Casey Wyant nominated her for the recognition, “Mrs. Fratzke is one of the most influential and impactful people in our building, both in front of the scenes and behind the scenes as well.”

“You can tell she loves her job. The interaction she has with the students is just incredible. You can tell she loves and cares for every single student that comes down to see her,” said Hammond.

“She’s amazing when she comes to help people. She has great things to say all the time, and an amazing heart,” said Avery Steele, 4th grader.

“I feel good when she takes care of me, because she helps me and she encourages me to get better,” said Emersyn Mealman, 3rd grade.

“She’s helped me get my inhaler - and with my stomach and head… you’re really nice, and you help people with stuff they need help with,” said 2nd grade student Oakley Basala.

Mr. Wyant summed it up best, “No matter what Mrs. Fratzke’s always there for us. She’s got a smile on her face and makes sure that we are seen as individuals, and she lets us know that she cares for us very deeply.

Thank you, Mrs. Fratzke!”

Superintendent Dr. Carl Johnson implemented the ‘Tiger Talent’ award for:

“...those who model, build and encourage positive character qualities - speaking into students’ lives by word and deed that will resonate for years to come and help guide them to become the leaders and contributing community members of tomorrow.”

Fratzke received a golden metal apple with “Tiger Talent” inscribed to commemorate her dedication to Sherrard Schools.
