Sherrard Welding Team Wins Competition for Third Year Straight

“Winning first place for the third consecutive year is a testament to our team's dedication, skill, and relentless pursuit of excellence,” said proud Ag/Welding teacher, John Rasty.

The Sherrard HS Welding Team won the Black Hawk College 6th Annual T-Joint Fillet Weld Invitational at the college’s Welding and Skilled Trades Center in downtown Kewanee - for the third year in a row with a score of 485.

The goal is to provide a competitive welding contest in a state-of-the-art welding facility that gives high school students an opportunity to test their skills. A total of 49 students from seven high schools registered for the competition.

The team is comprised of 5 welding students: Keegan Miller, senior, Levi Schurr, junior, Hunter Breiby, senior, Hunter Cederstrom senior, DJ Burd, junior.

Four of the top five individuals overall were also Sherrard students.
First place, Keegan Miller, senior
Second place, Levi Schurr, junior
Third place, Hunter Breiby, senior
Fifth, place, Hunter Cederstrom, senior

Second and third place teams were Mercer County High School with a score of 370 and Knoxville HIgh School scoring 367.
