  • Augustana College Pop-Up Event

    Augustana College - Illinois representatives held a ‘pop-up’ event outside at Sherrard High School - bringing a little of their campus to the rural school. Students had the opportunity to sign up to meet with the reps and learn about the college.

  • Bev Krueger - Teacher Feature October 2020

    Bev Kruger has spent the past six years as Physical Education Teacher at Winola Elementary School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Monmouth College "GO SCOTS!" The reason Krueger enjoys the Sherrard School District, "I love the community. Everyone here is really close knit and friendly. We have some really awesome kids too," she said.

  • String theory: Sherrard Elementary students are learning ukulele

    Sherrard Elementary fourth-grade students are learning ukulele with music teacher Emma Tully. “The students really like ukulele,' she said. "It’s developmentally great for them because their fingers are getting bigger and stronger.”

  • Sherrard Boys Golf team takes Sectional Championship title at home

    The Sherrard boys golf team won the first ever IHSA sectional championship in Sherrard history at Fyre Lake Golf Course, Oct. 12. What started out as a cold, blustery day - ended in sunshine and a record-setting win for the Tigers.

  • Winola Elementary playground becomes a palette for art class

    Students at Winola Elementary in Viola are integrating art and math to create an interactive path on the blacktop of the school's playground with paint. Restrictions handed down by the Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinios State Board of Education mean children aren’t allowed to play on the equipment, resulting in an opportunity for art teacher Tony Vermeer to get creative.

  • Sherrard School Board revises Return to Learn plan

    The Sherrard school board passed revisions to its Return to Learn plan’ Sept. 16 that could result in fewer students being sent home. The revisions, established by the Illinois Department of Public Health and adopted by Sherrard schools, give nurses latitude to decipher whether a symptom has a known cause — or if it’s something new that needs a doctor’s note for returning to school.

  • Sherrard National Honor Society inducts 24

    Twenty-four Juniors and Seniors were inducted into the Sherrard NHS (National Honor Society) in August at two ceremonies at Sherrard High School. The Sherrard NHS is celebrating its 60th year, established in 1961.
