Remote students may return to school following the first quarter, but we need to know who is coming back so we can make plans for their safe return. The deadline for notifying the schools is next Thursday, September 24th at 4:00 p.m. You can notify the district by calling the secretary of your child’s school.
The district’s Return to Learn Plan has been revised. You can find the updated plan on the district’s website. A summary of the changes can be found on the last three pages of the document.
Parent Teacher conferences will be held in a similar way as previous years, but they will be held virtually. The conferences are scheduled for October 7th and 8th. There will be an early dismissal those days with the junior and senior high students being dismissed at 1:00 and the elementary students being dismissed at 2:00. Lunch will be served on both days and there will be no afternoon preschool. Fall break will start on October 9th and continue through the 16th.
I want to publicly thank the district staff and the students for their hard work to help reduce the risk of COVID transmission. Everyone has done their part by wearing face coverings, maintaining social distance, washing their hands and helping to clean the buildings and buses. Though it is inevitable that we will have COVID cases, I am happy to report that we have not had any students test positive for COVID thus far.
The Sherrard Elementary secretary will be transferring to the bookkeeping department at the unit office, so there is now a secretarial vacancy at Sherrard Elementary. Interested persons should apply online via the district website.
