Becky Breiby, April Tiger Talent

Becky Breiby, Unit Office Secretary & Accounts Payable Specialist, was recognized as the Tiger Talent recipient for the month of April at the school board meeting. 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Superintendent Dr. Carl Johnson outlined the ways Becky exemplifies the traits required to earn the award:

“Ms. Breiby has been an integral part of the district for nearly 30 years. She is without a doubt, one of the most positive, constant, people a school district could ever hope to have. I still remember being greeted by Becky when I walked through these doors for my first interview. I was able to quickly realize it would be impossible to find a more friendly and thoughtful person to greet those people who walked through the door to the district office.

Her thoughtfulness and genuine caring has solved countless problems this year alone. People who talk to Becky simply know that she will do her best and excel, regardless of the situation!

Her colleagues write:
“No district employee is as wholeheartedly dedicated to the Sherrard School District and its staff, students, and families as Becky. Generations of Tigers have been fortunate to have been on the receiving end of Becky’s patience, commitment, and care. Growing up in the district, but not being in the same building as Becky, I remember being envious of my classmates and friends who had so many fun and silly stories about “Mrs. Breiby, the fun secretary at Coyne Center.” It’s been over two decades since my friends were Coyne Center students and anytime I mention her name the response is always the same, “Mrs. Breiby, I LOVED her!” She has had such a long lasting impact on students AND staff. Middle School me would’ve been SO excited to know that the cool and fun Coyne Center secretary would, years down the road, become my mentor and friend.

Becky knows all of the ins and outs of the district and is constantly going above and beyond (WAY above and beyond) to share her knowledge and wisdom. She somehow always has time to make everyone’s life easier. Her exuberant joy, dependable work ethic, and just overall goodness at the Unit Office sets the precedent and example for all other district employees.

One of the most admirable things about Becky is that although she’s not interacting directly with students each day- every duty she does, action she takes, and conversation she has- at the heart of it all is a strong love for and investment in the students of the district. She always does what’s right and she does it so well. She is a fierce advocate for our students and staff and there is no way to measure the amazing impact she has had on the Sherrard School District over the past 25+ years.”

And:

“We always tease that Becky is the voice and face of Sherrard, but actually she is so much more. She is always willing to help with any tasks we ask of her, takes on new job roles and dives in 100% and asks questions to keep growing and learning, all while keeping a smile on her face and multi-tasking with her own job responsibilities.

She goes above and beyond with tackling daily sub calling to try her best to get every class covered. She even handles sub calling on her days off, while never complaining about it.

If we ever question how something “used to be handled or what was the past practice” Becky is our go-to.  She has nearly 30 years in the district and has seen and experienced so much!  She is a great co-worker and an even better friend and we are so lucky to have Becky as the Sherrard Unit Office Secretary and Accounts Payable Specialist!”

Supt. Dr. Johnson implemented the award for “...those who model, build and encourage positive character qualities - speaking into students’ lives by word and deed that will resonate for years to come and help guide them to become the leaders and contributing community members of tomorrow.”

“We all remember that one person who said or did something that stuck with us - they made us feel important, they noticed our strengths, and it's something we revisit in times of struggle... Those deserve to be acknowledged for their dedication,” said Dr. Johnson.

Becky received a golden metal apple  with “Tiger Talent” inscribed to commemorate her hard work.
