2021 PROM Cancelled
After much thought, consultation, and discussion, SHS has made the extremely difficult decision to cancel Prom, which was scheduled for May 1. The uncertainty of the many mitigations that will be in place combined with the need to finalize plans for the event have led us to this decision. Your continued understanding our need to keep students safe is appreciated.

Genesis Health Group - Sports Physicals
Genesis Health Group in Aledo (1007 NW 3rd Street) is offering sports physicals for $20.
Appointments are recommended (309/582-9450), but walk-ins are allowed. The dates are February 17th, 23rd and 26th.
The hours are 8:00AM to 5:00PM each day (closed from 12:00PM-1:00PM for lunch).
Graduation Date Set
Graduation will be held on May 30, at 2:00 p.m. on the campus of Sherrard High School. The format of graduation will be determined by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and any governor restrictions that will be in effect at that time.

After 28 years teaching in Sherrard schools, Lori Arnold had this to say when asked why Sherrard, “I don't ask why Sherrard - I ask why not? It's a great community and district. I can make more money by teaching in Moline or Rock Island but there's something about rural schools.
The Sherrard School Board voted to update their “Return to Learn” Plan last Wednesday, Feb. 17. The plan is a document outlining conduct and mitigations the district is implementing to facilitate in-person learning. The district has had the option of five days in-person instruction or full remote learning since school started on Aug. 17, 2020.
Sherrard School District received their second dose of the Moderna vaccine for teachers and staff. Now all school employees who chose to receive it are fully vaccinated. School officials say this brings a sense of relief.
Evelyn Weakley remembers going with her family to deliver cards to senior living homes when she was little, “They were really happy when they saw the cards, that made me happy - and I wanted to do this because I wanted them to be happy like that.”

A persuasive writing project had a tasty outcome for third graders at Winola Elementary last week. They had no idea they were designing a donut they would actually get to eat, thanks to Hurts Donut Co. - Quad Cities.
Stacy Harroun is a 6th grade math teacher in her 6th year at Matherville Intermediate. Harroun holds a Bachelor of Elementary Education degree from WIU (2010), Masters in Teaching and Leadership from SXU (2016), and is currently working on a 2nd masters in Administration at WIU.
