The Sherrard school board passed revisions to its Return to Learn plan’ Sept. 16 that could result in fewer students being sent home. The revisions, established by the Illinois Department of Public Health and adopted by Sherrard schools, give nurses latitude to decipher whether a symptom has a known cause — or if it’s something new that needs a doctor’s note for returning to school.
Students in Sherrard were back in school on Monday, for the first time in more than 150 days. Parents had a choice of full, 5 day in-person attendance, or fully remote learning to begin the school year.
COVID-19 may have put a halt to… pretty much everything… but midwest produce production can’t be stopped, and that’s one lesson Sherrard FFA students learned from Ag teacher Bill Hammes. Since harvest began in July, the students have brought in 2,306 pounds.
